Save Prayer on TV! Save ‘Friday Night Lights’

For all you Christians out there…have you seen ‘Friday Night Lights’?

Have you seen how many times the characters in the show pray? And not just a quick, “Amen”…NBC is showing full fledged 15 second+ prayers. When was the last time you saw this on TV? (save the simpsons…). Besides being just a great show, this show is showing at least some decent representation of Christian prayer. Doesn’t that alone make it worth saving?

From a beliefnet blog on FNL:

“The final minutes also feature one of the most moving and authentic prayers I’ve heard on TV in a very long time. It’s a perfect illustration of the way real life and spiritual life intersect in strange and difficult ways.”
Join the petition to save FNL. See the post, “How to Save ‘Friday Night Lights’ (the show)” to tell NBC to keep FNL on the air and keep prayer on the air!

Please keep Friday Night Lights and prayer on TV—hopefully at 7 PM. Enjoy the show, especially since it’s filmed locally.

Prayer interlaced with gratitous sex and alcohol is surely not an attraction for the Christian right. However, I must say that as an alum of Texas high schools, the show is very real. Very, very real. And it damn, it should stay on the air for another season. Has anyone downloaded the first season on iTunes yet?

This show is so real and yes there is prayer, but why is that such a problem. I get so tired of people complaining about christians and prayer. Get over it. Christians are expected to accept and learn about everybody else’s religion and beliefs and accept them. I say give us the same respect.

Please whatever you do, do not cancell friday night lights, we save Wednesday nights just for the show. It would break my husbands hear. He loves football and we both can relate to alot of things that go on in the show. We remember things back from high school. PLEASE!!! I love the fact that they are open to prayer, i love that and it means alot to the country to still at least have some show that is open the the discussion of god. Please do not take that “sacret family value” away. It teaches alot to the younger crowd that is very important to morals and values. Thanks PLEASE!!!!!!!!

Certainly FNL is a Christian show, but only in the most meaningful, universal sense.
Its characters, all fallen humans, stumble after grace, seek unfindable answers and turn to each other and to a higher power for sustenance.

They fall, they sin, they repent, they are healed.

But this pattern is, surprise, not restricted to those who believe in the divinity of Jesus of Nazareth. It is the core movement of the three Abrahamic faiths: Judaism, Christianity, and, yes, Islam.

The prayers of the citizens of Dillon don’t just move Christians, they move all folks of faith.

Love this show and fear that the NBC reference to final four episodes left do not bode well for the show.

I have petitioned NBC twice to keep the show - maybe moving it to a Thursday time slot will give it the boost it needs.

All the good ones are gone! :(

In these times of Moral decline, the need for positive values and family values, Christians should support and pray for acts of righteousness. The Culture needs a big dose of Grace. Thank you.

Please save Friday Night Lights!! This is my favorite show ever!! I love a lot of shows that were on NBC, which are good family shows but they always get canceled, ex. American Dreams. Friday night Lights is a great family show, that shows real life situations that teens and adults go through. I can relate to this show in so many ways, unlike so many of those unrealistic shows now a days. Friday Night Lights makes me laugh, cry, and smile during every episode I watch and I can’t say that for any other show. I get so excited every week for the new upcoming episode, and every single episode grabs and holds my attention all the way through and I just never want the show to end. Please keep this show, and I know it will grab more fans if it’s just advertised more. I have told many friends about it who all thought it was just a football show, but when I told them it was much more than that then they all tuned in and love it as much as I do. So please please please try for another season and hopefully more people will get into it if they see what a wonderful story it is.

I LOVE this show! There’s nothing else like it on TV. The relationships are so much more real than anything else. So wonderful seeing a marriage deal with everyday issues, like we all do. Love how the coach is a REAL man and committed to his family. There are a lot of men like him in the world, but we don’t see them on TV.

Friday Night Lights has become my all time favorite television show. Please do not cancel this show-it is about real people living a normal middle American life. But, the way their lives are protrayed keeps the audience interested and makes them feel as if they are a part of this town, a part of the school’s football fans, etc. NBC has finally come across with a program that the average viewer can relate to. The things that the characters experience are things the viewer does not have to stretch their imagination to even believe the plot. Please do not cancel this show and thank you that Christians are not protrayed as religious fanatics.

Don’t cancel this show!!! I am a married woman with two small children, and my husband and I look so forward to Friday nights because of this show. We love it! It would be so disappointing to not be able to have this to enjoy. The storylines are great and the cast is an amazing group of actors. It would be a big mistake and a huge letdown to so many fans to do away with this show!! Again, please keep Friday Night Lights on the air!!

Please leave this meaningful show on television it is so quick to focus on actual issues in life, instead of made up ones. Even the storyline of Tim Riggins and his drinking, don’t for a second think that there aren’t more teenage boys out there with this same issues and they can have a better way to focus on better choices such as Tim does. Please leave FNL on

A lot of people would be really upset including myself, if you canceled the series of it. It’s just a really good show, so lets keep it on the air for a few more season!!!!!!!

    Thanks
